London is a hotbed of history and stately buildings: with iconic venues left, right, and centre, there aren’t many cities that are better suited for hosting impressive conferences.

Among the city’s grandest and most prestigious venues is the stunning Lincoln’s Inn, a collection of beautiful Grade I and II listed buildings, nestled in the heart of Holborn. Boasting a portfolio of well-equipped event spaces, a grand and beautiful setting, and an ideal location, here’s why Lincoln’s Inn is the perfect venue for your next conference.

It’s steeped in history

Home to the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, one of London’s four Inns of the Court, since around 1312, the venue is steeped in history and is still hosting prestigious gatherings more than 7 centuries on.

Many of the venue’s spaces retain original architectural features, with the Old Hall, Lincoln’s Inn’s oldest surviving space, dating back to around 1490, and representing a prime example of Tudor architecture, complete with original roof timbers and a screen designed by the celebrated Baroque artist and architect, Inigo Jones.

Meanwhile, the Great Hall offers an incredible representation of Tudor Revival style, with beautiful frescos and a minstrel’s gallery, as well as coats of arms on display. Whichever space forms the backdrop for your conference, your guests will be surrounded by hundreds of years of history – key note sessions don’t get much more immersive than that!

It boasts incredible ancient architecture…

There’s a reason historical venues are so popular with event organisers, and understandably so when you take stock of how impressive venues like Lincoln’s Inn look from the very outset. For attendees turning up to a conference here, they’ll turn off the bustling streets of Holborn and Chancery Lane, and be met with a courtyard of beautiful red brick buildings, which look as though time has passed them by.

First impressions matter, and with a conference at Lincoln’s Inn, you’re sending the right impression to all of your delegates – that this is an event not to be missed! We guarantee they’ll be stopped in their tracks by the grandeur of the venue, inside and out.

And impressive contemporary features

As a venue dating back centuries, you might expect Lincoln’s Inn to be behind the times, but its state-of-the-art facilities, beautifully-appointed event spaces, and in-house event technology solutions are seriously impressive.

The new Ashworth Centre, which was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 2018 and sits underneath the Great Hall,  is a perfect example of moving with the times while taking care to preserve the history of the existing space.

The Centre features integrated AV and clever use of skylights to flood the space with natural daylight and give conferences a bright, contemporary feel. Purpose-built to host conferences and business events, the refurbishments are seamlessly integrated with the venue’s Grade I and II listed spaces, ensuring that conferences run smoothly and boast top notch tech.

It offers a sophisticated, comfortable set-up

Historical surroundings don’t need to come at the cost of comfort, either: Lincoln’s Inn certainly doesn’t compromise when it comes to keeping attendees comfortable. The venue’s Ashworth Centre features a luxurious conference space, with tiered seating, natural daylight, and entrance spaces. Accommodating up to 158 delegates in a double-heighted room, it’s a stylish and well-appointed events space that’s guaranteed to make guests comfortable.

Looking for a cabaret-style conference? The tiered seating in this space is retractable, so the room can be entirely cleared to create space for tables or other seating arrangements. It also boasts 10 well-equipped meeting rooms on two levels, with partition screens that can be used to divide or connect the spaces. Ideal for breakouts, meetings, and smaller conferences, these spaces provide a flexible base for events that need some spill-over room.

Quality conferences don’t have to be cut short at Lincoln’s Inn: in fact, when the sessions wrap up, the event’s just getting started! If you’re looking for a venue that brightens up networking sessions and gives guests a taste of high society (and history) Lincoln’s Inn should be the top of your list.

Its stunning Members Lounge provides a really unique location for drinks and nibbles, with comfortable seating, arched ceilings, and a private bar. Meanwhile, the Old Court Room provides a more intimate space for networking, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling books and fascinating nods to its former use. If you’re after a memorable venue, we think you can’t do much better than this spot!
